Mike Futrell began serving as City Manager of South San Francisco, California, in April 2014, bringing broad executive experience in local, state and federal government. He was Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; served on staff in the United States Senate; and was an elected member of the Louisiana House of Representatives and of the Baton Rouge City Council. He served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy and rose to the rank of Navy Captain in the Navy Reserves. He previously practiced law with a private firm and was Executive Vice President of a public utility company in Hawaii.
Mike holds a bachelor's degree in Business/Public Administration and a Juris Doctorate degree from Louisiana State University, a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and completed the Stanford Graduate School of Business Learn-Engage-Accelerate-Disrupt (LEAD) Certificate program in Corporate Innovation.
Kelly graduated with a Biology and Exercise Physiology degree, focusing in Pre-Med and launched into a career in Medical Device Sales, working with Smith Nephew and then Boston Scientific. She has worked in the operating room with surgeons and patients, supporting and guiding the physician during surgery and supporting the patient’s focus on recovery. From device sales, Kelly then worked in healthcare consulting, identifying traditional family physicians/internists who were looking for a better way to do business and take care of their patients by taking a proactive approach to the patients’ care with more time available for each patient. In 2015, Kelly moved to the Bay Area to run the business development of California’s Life Science Start-Up Community at CLSA; working with a diverse group companies from the CA life science startups to the industry leaders. Today, she leads the Corporate & Community Development of Bonneville Labs, a co-working lab and office space, with flexible lease space for companies looking to either build their company or to expand their footprint in the California Bay Area.
Colleen Cutcliffe is the CEO and Co-Founder of Pendulum Therapeutics. Pendulum is a startup company based in San Francisco that uses biological and computational insights into the microbiome to develop interventions for a variety of health and disease conditions. The flagship product for Pendulum is for people with Type 2 Diabetes and has been clinically shown to reduce A1C and postprandial glucose response. Colleen has over 20 years of experience managing and leading teams in biotech, pharma and academia. Before starting Pendulum, Colleen served as the Senior Manager of Biology at Pacific Biosciences, which is where she met her two co-founders. Prior to that, Colleen was a Scientist at Elan Pharmaceuticals.
Colleen completed her postdoctoral research at Northwestern’s Children’s Memorial Hospital, received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Johns Hopkins University and received her B.A. in Biochemistry from Wellesley College.
Colleen currently resides in Menlo Park, CA with her husband, 2 daughters, 2 dogs, and 2 birds and 2 chinchillas...all contributing to a diverse microbiome!
Jacob Glanville is an Entrepreneur and Computational Immuno-Engineer. He developed the core business model, the research teams, and the technologies that enabled Distributed Bio to become profitable without investment. He has developed multiple seminal methods in the fields of high-throughput antibody repertoire sequencing (PNAS 2009), repertoire decoding algorithms (Nature 2017), single-cell TCR receptor & phenotype sequencing (Nature Biotech, 2014), deconstructing genetic variation in the adaptive immune system (Nature Communications 2015, Nature Reports 2016, PNAS 2011, TI 2017), and computationally guided antibody library engineering (JMB 2011, JMB 2013, COSB 2015).
As Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer of Distributed Bio, he and his teams apply computationally-guided immunoengineering methods to enable a new generation of monoclonal antibody discovery and universal vaccine design. In addition to counting over 40 pharmaceutical companies and biotechnology startups as his Distributed Bio clients, he enjoys collaborating with multiple partners including Twist Bioscience, AbCheck, and Isogenica to generate exciting new technologies in biomedicine.
Orion Keifer is a neuroscientist with neurosurgical training and hands-on expertise in small and large animal model translational gene therapy research.
Orion received his B.S. at Georgia Tech, a M.Sc in brain and cognitive neurosciences from Georgia Tech, and M.D. and Ph.D. in neuroscience from Emory University. He completed his post-doctoral training at Emory University.
As an Executive Director in Cushman & Wakefield’s Burlingame office, Marc Pope has over 12 years of experience representing tenants throughout the San Francisco Peninsula. Marc Pope specializes in tenant representation, focusing on life science clients and the complex needs of small start-ups, fast growth companies, and large pharma clients.
Marc sits on the executive board for Cushman & Wakefield’s Life Science Practice Group, a nationwide team that aligns resources and creates strategies for its clients across multiple markets. Since joining Cushman & Wakefield in 2008, he has consistently been a top producer completing over 525 transactions valued at over $760 Million Dollars.
.Jim is responsible for marketing and events for JLABS in the Bay Area. His role includes creating and coordinating high-quality, diverse and distinctive programming ranging from one-on-one investor meetings, workshops and large panel discussions to networking and social events.
Prior to Joining Johnson & Johnson, Jim spent two decades in the powersports industry. He held the post of Marketing Direct, at Ducati North America, Operations Manager at Premier Event and various positions at BMW of North America.
Jim holds a B.S. Chemistry from Muhlenberg College and earned his M.B.A at Rutgers University.
